A VERY FINE REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD AMERICAN SWIVEL GUN, ca. 1770s: In overall very fine untouched condition. Cast iron barrel with an integral, raised, rectangular touch-hole and several turnings at the muzzle, breech and midsection. Two lower-mounted trunions pins with its original, wrought iron, 10″ swivel yolk: for attachment to a boat’s side-rail. The breech with a classic, 18th century, ball-shaped, iron cascable. The muzzle with a flared decorative mouth and a 75 caliber bore. In overall very fine condition with a pleasing untouched dark age patina throughout. Overall length 13 1/2″. Approximate weight 12 lbs. An original American Swivel Gun Cannon, ca. 1770s.
