12/07/13 – Deck the Alley 2013 – Elfreth’s Alley in Philadelphia

Wow, although the event has passed, I came across this and thought it worth putting up so folks are familiar with it maybe for next year.

Elfreth’s Alley dates to 1702 and is considered to be the oldest continuously-occupied street in America. Once a year for the Deck the Alley event, most of the residents open the doors of their private homes to allow the public a glimpse of what these colonial period homes look like today. While going into a bunch of random homes might be odd in general, these homes are historically special and being able to see them all in one evening is quite the privilege, getting to experience all of that history.
