Empire: Total War Game for Computer (Mac/PC)

If you’re into the occasional game, this one allows you to be a founding father of a developing country in the 18th century. One can choose what country they want to develop, then build it over time, taking control of more land, fighting battles on land and on sea, and taking the country into the new century.

You can of course choose leading the colonies through the War of Independence against great Britain, including gameplay with the period soldier types and individuals from the time. Battle simulations can be some of the best around, where you can control individual units in a real-time battle, zooming out or in so close that it appears you are watching a high-quality movie. The graphics are great. And you get to control everything.
