On Presidents’ day, it might be fun to share a little about the holiday, also known as Washington’s Birthday.
George Washington’s birthday (February 22nd) was often a day of remembrance in the 1800’s, as those would celebrate the life of one of the nation’s most prominent founding fathers. In1879 President Hayes signed the day into law as a national holiday observed in the District of Columbia, and in 1885 it was expanded to the whole country. In 1971 it was shifted to the third Monday in February, to coincide with national efforts to place more holidays on Mondays, offering workers more 3-day weekends. The day has come to be a celebration of all Presidents, and the contributions they have made to an ever-growing America.
