I’ve got a distant grandfather who was in the 1st Virginia State Regiment (Militia) who was called up with the 2nd Virginia State Regiment (Milita) to serve in the Continental Line during the Philadelphia Campaign. I read in 1780 the 1st’s Colonel procured a lot of osnaburg for hunting shirts but my question was does anyone have any other sources on what they might’ve worn during that campaign 2 years previously. I know with militia it could vary but I intend on doing a reenacting impression of the 2nd Virginia and wanted to do it properly. Any insight will help. Thank you.
